Lanzarote

On Lanzarote one of the Canary Islands we rented a car and visited several places like Haria, the village with many palm trees Orzola at the northern coast, San Bartolomé maybe the most beautiful village of Lanzarote.

Lanzarote

Lanzarote is the most northern of the Canary Islands, an archipelago in the Atlantic Ocean, about 115 kilometers off the coast of Morocco. The island is 62 km long and 21 km wide. the surface is 846 square kilometers. It belongs to Spain. Lanzarote is a volcanic island, which has more than fifteen million years ago. It is because of its location over the past centuries often been the scene of battle.

Lanzarote, including Lanzarote belonging to the smaller islands of La Graciosa, Montaña Clara and Alegranza, 846 square kilometers. The only airport on the island is located near the capital Arrecife. Because it is the oldest island of the Canary Islands, the volcanoes of weathered "mountains" to "hills". Mountains often causes rain: it does not rain often in Lanzarote. Since the temperature measurement means at the lowest temperature ever measured 6 º C. Approximately 40 days per year there is a Kalima, a strong wind from the Sahara. This results in high temperature and a lot of fine sand in the air.

Between 1730 and 1736 and in 1824, a series of volcanic eruptions which occurred eleven villages are submerged. A large part of the island is covered with lava and looks like a lunar landscape because there is almost no vegetation.

The island is often plagued by the trade winds, a wind predominantly from the north. The island is located north of Fuerteventura, which is Spanish for strong winds. This conclusion is in doubt because the word Fuerteventura not literally "strong wind," but "hard adventure", referring to an exiled believer who, for lack of the basic necessities of life, had a tough existence.

Because the soil of Lanzarote holds little water, agriculture on the island difficult. The inhabitants of Lanzarote therefore build walls around the crops that keep both the wind and absorb the moisture. By sprinkling the landscape with lava sand, however, the humidity of the environment captured. This layer will also ensure that the moisture evaporates more slowly.
