Parque Nacional del Teide

Teide or Pico del Teide is the largest volcano in the island of Tenerife in the Canary Islands. With its 3718 meters above sea level and 7000 meters above the seabed is the highest mountain in Spain. This volcano is considered dormant considered, although the last eruption occurred in 1909. Other large eruptions of Teide occurred in 1704-1706 and 1798. New eruptions are expected, hazardous eruptions with pyroclastic flows.

The volcano and surrounding area measuring 18,900 ha and is called the Parque Nacional del Teide. Since 2007, this area is included in the World Heritage List of UNESCO.

El Teide is one of the 16 Decade Volcanoes designated by the IAVCEI in connection with its history of large eruptions and nearby residential areas.
