Things To Do: Chu Chi tunnels
  • Tip Rating:
  • Being greatly interested in The vietnam war this was a "must do" thing on my intenerary.
    I was greatly immpressed.
200 km of tunnels is situated about 1 and a half hours drive from Saigon. It was a place of fierce resistance against the Americans in a place called Chu Chi near Cholon.
There you get to walk into the tunnels, which are unbelieavable tight at times as well as seeing how the vietcong lived and fought during the war.
If your American prepare not to come away to joyfull. The museum and the subsequant videos shown are not to light on their disdain for the americans and thier "imperialistic war"

Things To Do: The tunnels of Chu Chi
  • Tip Rating:
  • When you see some of these tunnels you can possibly impagine how humans could have fit through some of them. there is an opportunity to crawl through some of them and i must admit that i was a little scared. These things where a tight squeeze and you once you go in you cant turn around.

You crawl for a few hundred meters in the dark and its very hot and claustraphobic.
After coming out completly drenched with sweat and exhaustion i wondered how the hell they did it for 20 years

  • Looking at some of these booby traps you can help but wonder at the ingenuity of the vietcong and shake your head at the barbarity.
A vast array of contraptions devised by the rebels can be seen near Chu Chi tunnels.

Things To Do: Fire an AK47
  • Tip Rating:
  • After seeing and hearing about the barbarity and absurdity of war your then invited to fire some of the weapon the Vietcong used during the war.
I though why not, picked up an AK paid a few dollars for some bullets and went to the firing range and shot away to my hearts content.

Things To Do: Visit Ho Chi Minh city
  • Tip Rating:
  • Most people still call it Saigon.
Its a very cool city, with a population of close to 10 million people. It is very chaotic and virtually never sleeps.
When i was there is stayed mosly around the backpackers hub but i did manage to venture off into the city quite a bit.
Because of the population one can feel that the place is slightly overcrowded, there are motorcycles everywhere and crossing a road can sometimes like suicide.

    Things To Do: Random animals
  • Tip Rating:
  • like in Laos they seem to have random animals and tourist places. At the chu chi tunnels they have a giant python there for some reason.
