The first time i arrived in Luang Prabang it was like i was enhaling air for the first time in ages. Partly becasue of 2 reasons, one, i had been in a boat for the last 2 days on the mekong and desperate to get off. Secondly, because Luang Prabang continues to remain that place where everything is a little slower and the complexities of western life seem far far away.

Although the tourist industry is booming the city continues to have its own individual character. A mix between the ancient and the colonial, Luang will leave a lasting impression on your heart.

At times i would sit on the banks ok the Mekong River or climb to the top of mt Phousi. I would think about the way our societies are. I guess i got hoping that insetad of moving in the other direction, we could move a little closer to Laos and Luang Prabang.

Pros and Cons
  • Pros:Beautiful scenery, wonderful people, chilled out lifestyle
  • Cons:Diffcult to find a guesthouse
  • In a nutshell:you MUST visit this beautiful place
