I came to Mexico on a trip following La Ruta Maya visiting Mayan Cities thoughout Yucatan and Chiapas provinces and Guatamala.
We started at Merida and visited Uxmal, Campeche, Palenque, San Cristobal and then over the border to Guatemala. After visiting Lago Atitlan, Antigua, Guatemala City, Livingstone, Flores and Tikal we drove north through Belize and back into Mexico to visit Tulum and Chichen Itza.(or Chicken Pizza as our guide liked to call it!) |
The Good bits The colourful towns The fabulous monuments -especially Palenque Saturday night fiesta in Merida Mexican Food Mexican beer -oh so cheap! Salsa (the food not the dance) The beach at Tulum |
The bad bits It can be very hot and humid Getting beaten up by the surf at Tulum cos I'm no good at body surfing! Lots of tourists at Chichen Itza getting in the way of a good photograph. Watch for food poisoning - my friend got sick and ended up in hospital |
