I have always gone to Gozo for a day trip every time I holidayed in Malta.
I have read people from Gozo will say they are Gozitans not Maltese yet they call Gozo Ghawdex a name that is an Arab coruption of older names because they don't like the Spanish name Gozo whitch had been imposed on them. The Capitol Victoria ( named after Queen Victoria on her diamond jubilee ) is called Rabat by locals because they didn't welcome the name change this seems a little odd because you think why haven't they got used to it by now or just have it changed back. |
