What's new? In June, I had the opportunity to visit the Ibiza for Australians - Bali. Man there are more Aussies there than you can poke a stick at. but that's not a bad thing. I've been away from Oz for so long I'd found myself gravitating towards the distinct accent.
Bali is simly a beautiful and relaxing place to kill time and plenty of brain cells. Over indulging on Bintang Beers, tempting fate with Mushroom cocktails, dangerously enduring the endless night in front of the disco balls, dicing with mininal sleep and defying the tropical heat can render you useless..... But only when you return to the comfort of your own bed and country. Whilst you're Bali, you must play.
From it long sweeping beaches to the slow quiet countryside, Bali romances you to a more peaceful place. Unfortunately, this peaceful escape was the target of a vile act which shattered hopes and lives of some many couple of years ago.
But the Balinese has bounced back and seeing the general nature of people you can understand why. Tourism is also on the mend as well with Kuta and the beaches filling up again.
There are plenty of new hangouts for us invading tourist. And what has being destory has been rebuilt. Beautiful Bali |
So what's recent? I'd just came back from a totally relaxing Penang family vacation. Four nights of eating and drinking. Now my gut is hating me for it. Happy hour would do that to you. Don't you just hate it when you feel as though you need another holiday to recover from the one you'd just had?
However, it was cool because my mum and sister who was visiting from Australia got to come and play on the golden sands of Penang. Banged Penang |
And what's not so new? I was finally able to update my Vietnam, Hanoi page recently. After a 5 day visit to see the grandparents and relos, I was able to utilise the digital video camera a bit more and capture some nice still shots.
Some may say 5 days isn't enough to see this country, let alone the city. Well, you're right. But when it comes to relatives, you just can't pull yourself away. And when your grandparents (all three of them) beleives they're about to be given the keys to those "Pearly Gates" demands to see there new great grandson. Well, it's request that can not be ingnored.
A large extended family always equates to plenty of food, drinks and a bloody good time. But drink I must for it is custom to down "100 percent" whatever is place in front of you. Unfortunately for me this only resulted in pain and misery.
Note: Never attempt to achieve drinking half a bottle of VSOP, several shots of 15 year old Johnny Green Label, and Bia Hanoi's in one sitting. This only results in bad things for your partner. "Honey, where is the bucket?"
Picture is of one happy family. Hello Hanoi |
The Silliness that is KingPin How not to "Hop-scotch". Find a reasonable sized object and size it up. Make sure you have the vertical leaping ablilities of a flea and the flexiblity of a gymnist. Take a steady approach before propelling yourself upwards and forwards, and finally over that insignificant obstacle.
Now that all good in theory but never find an object that is size of a Mini Volks Wagon. You'll simply do too much damage. Not good if you are considering adding onto your family.
At the Awana Genting Resort -where the golfing are reserved for giants.
Sure the golf balls are big, but wait until you see the clubs.
