The bus from Surat Thani to KRabi town took far too long and I had no idea where I wanted to go, I had a big list. I was very tempted to go to Ko Phi Phi but didnt want to go where everyone else was going and then I saw some photos of Hat Tham Pra Nang and decided, seeing as Railay was so close I would go there. I stayed on Ao Railay East which isnt much at all, mostly a harbour for longtail boats. The beach is covered in mangrove trees and its very littered but its cheaper than west railay. Two huge limestone headland create mulitple beaches between them, the most stunnign being Hat Tham Pra Nang. There is one luxury resort there- guarded by armed men I might add. This beach was perfect for swimming and there were some very kind locals here. West Railay was also stunning and the sand was totally flat and the waves came in for a good 50m. The whole area is beautiful and there are some good viewpoints if you are willing to get dirty. |
