Founded in the mid-nineteenth century, KUALA LUMPUR, or KL as it's popularly known, is the youngest Southeast Asian capital.
KL is home to a multitude of tongues, languages, religions, customs and home to its three largest communities--Malays, Chinese and Indians--and a multitude of lesser known tribes.
Places to see:
Supreme Court or the Sultan Abdul Samad Building, a Moorish-looking, the clock tower. Dataran Merdeka, or Independence Square was original a cricket field. Selangor Club, Cathedral of Virgin St Mary.
Jamek Mosque, the oldest in the country and located just behind the SAS Building.
The Central Market, formally a traditional fresh market in the old days, now have painters, sculptors, fortune-tellers and traders hawking a wide range of curios, collectibles and art. Petaling Street to buy DVD, watches, imitations cloths and bags
Lake Garden, Orchid Garden, Kuala Lumpur Bird Park, the Hibiscus Garden, Butterfly Park and Deer Park.
Petronas Twin Tower petroleum-funded structure. The 1,453 feet, was one of the world's tallest buildings.
Shopping -Suria KLCC, Jalan Bukit Bintang, Mid Valley Megamall, Bandar Utama.
When you are here do try the local fruits. Of course if you are brave enough do try The King of fruit 'DURIAN'. We just love it but it’s an acquired taste. Some say it smell horrible like old socks, cheese... etc.
The smell can be very strong but the creamy texture of the fruits is simply delicious.
Other fruits to try are rambutan, mangoes, mangosteen, jack fruit, cempedak, ciku, papaya and guava.
- Cons:Traffic can be hell at times!
- In a nutshell:Busy metropolitan!
