Kampar, a former tin mining town south of Ipoh. During the last WW2, the Biritsh forces held up the advancing Japanese troops for 4 days from Dec 30th, 1941 to Jan 2nd, 1942.
Killing field at Thomson Ridge
There were repeated Japanese banzai charges on the forward slope of Thomson Ridge, which they finally overran the trenches on the Eastern sector of Thomson Ridge.
The British forces did made 4 counter charges to capture it back from the Japanese before retreating down south on the 5th day..
