"Lucerne/Luzern, Switzerland" Lucerne by Peterodl

I got into Luzern on Wens. April 20th, 2005 and stayed until Friday April 22nd when I headed up to Ulm, Germany after just under 5 hours on the train.
I got to Luzern from Salzburg after a 7 hour train ride. It rained all the way from Salzburg and when I went through the mountain passes, a village stop after a tunnel was snowing like a blizzard and the next side of the mountain pass tunnel was raining again. Fun to watch.
I got to Luzern and tried to follow the directions to the Hotel De La Paix. They should just say "Walk across the bridge towards the cathedral. Turn left two streets from the cathedral and we are on the corner on the left on the 2nd street next to the Starbucks."
Instead, I spent 30 mins. wandering around the area of the hotel in the rain with my 40 pound backpack on my back until I gave up and asked directions from a vendor. I was only 2 blocks away from it and it turns out I walked in front of the hotel twice without realizing it!
After getting situated in my room (#113) and watching Scooby Doo in English on the tv, I went out in search of dinner and found a grocery store under the train station.
With it still raining, I went back to my hotel room, took a well deserved shower and had dinner in my room.

• Cons:expensive
• In a nutshell:A must see for travelers searching for a romantic town or just for some history
