From Paris to Scotland

by Peterodl - last update: Aug 26, 2005

Close up of Edinburgh
I flew Easyjet from Paris to London Luton and then up to Edinburgh on Feb. 10, 2005.
I got to my hostel the Budget Backpackers and there was a bit of a problem with the door lock on my room so the staff gave me a key instead of a card.
I discovered that my shoes (Clarks) that I bought 2 years earlier and hardly wore both had a crack in the sole that ran into the bottom of the shoe.
I only discovered this when I took off my shoes and my feet were soaked with rain water from my day walking in Edinburgh. I was not happy.
I bought a new pair of Clarks in London but more on that in my London page.

I saw the castle and wasn't too impressed to be honest. Cost me 10 pounds so I was expecting a little more.
I took the City of the Dead tour that night and had fun at night in a cemetary.

My 2nd day I caught a bus at the Waverly Bus Station at 10:12am and went to St. Andrews to see the golf course 1 hour away. More of that in my St. Andrews page.

I came back and wandered New Town and found the Hard Rock Cafe and shelled out 22 pounds ($43.56) for a dinner, malt and a pin and watched the end of the Ireland vs. Scotland Rugby match (Ireland beat Scotland handily about 43-12).

I took in an underground ghost tour with a stop afterwords with the guide in a pub for a pint of beer that night and had much fun.
New Town from the Castle
My 3rd day I wandered around New Town, the Waverly Station and Old Town with no real direction.
I took the Whiskey Tour near the Castle and took a witching ghost tour at night and basically froze the entire time but enjoyed myself all the same.
Trained back down to London the next day at 10am from Waverly for 4 1/2 hours to start my stay there.
