"A flying visit." Smederevo by planxty

Enroute to the Euromeet 2011 from the premeet in Belgrade so well organised by VT member Keti I was lucky enough to be teamed up with members Matt and Urszula, the most delightful travelling companions you could wish for. Heading South towards Nis, our overnight stop, Keti had arranged for us to stop in the town of Smederova. In fairness, I know little about this place, the reason for us stopping was purely to see the hugely impressive fortress, built on a bluff overlooking the Duna (Danube) river and it is easy to see why the place became of importance.

We were literally there for maybe 90 minutes, the pressure of travelling times forcing us to move on but I am so glad we got to see the fortress and I hope my images do it justice. Perhaps the reader will be in a position to visit for longer.
