"They said there was nothing to see." Frinton-on-Sea by planxty
Frinton-on-Sea Travel Guide: 16 reviews and 28 photos
I had never been to Frinton before, although it is one of the "holy triumvirate" of places held dear by people from the East End (capitals intended) of London. Clacton, Walton and Frinton are all places that, in past times, provided a breath of fresh air, literally, from the grime and pollution of the capital.
I took all of them in on a daytrip, just for a look around. I met a local lad in a bar and asked him what there was to see in Frinton. "Nothing", he quickly and certainly replied. "What", said I, "no pier." "Nope." "Perhaps a museum or something?", I persisted. "Nope." "A church, perhaps" To this I got a little more reply. He said, "Well, there's the new church down the road, but it's not very exciting."
OK, so it's not the Riviera, but I did actually find a fascinating old church that my new-found friend had obviously overlooked, and a very pleasant seafront with a nice walk into Walton, should you require the more banal seaside pursuits. Like anywhere else, have a little look round and you're sure to find something.
- Pros:Pleasant, genteel little place.
- Cons:Not a whole lot to do.

I happened upon the Church of St. Mary, the old parish church of Frinton-on-Sea, by accident. I'm very glad I did. It is... more travel advice

Nice to read a fair review of Frinton for once - a place that receives a lot of criticism for being "posh", but I think this is unfair on what is really just another typical English seaside resort...
Hello again. I only went there that one time but I enjoyed myself. You are right, it is another British seaside town and like most of them has probably seen better days but it is great for a day out. fergy.
