A brief introduction. | River Thames at Richmond on a dreary day. |
Originally popularised when Henry VII built Richmond palace nearby, the name was taken from Richmond in Yorkshire which was one of his properties.
Today, the suburb of London is very pleasant, situated on the river Thames, which I love. There is a good shopping area and many pleasant pubs and restaurants. There are also lovely walks along the river, and it's a place I love to go on a sunny day.
Travel from Central London is easy. Richmond is serviced by the District Line on the Underground and also by Southwest trains which depart Waterloo and take about 25 minutes. |
