A very quick visit.

Chumphon, variously spelt Chumporn and Chumpon, would seem to be mainly visited by tourists as a jumping off point for the nearby islands of Ko Tao, Ko Samui and Ko Phangan and I must admit I fell into this trap. Having travelled South from Prachaup Khiri Khan, I was anxious to be on my way and only spent one evenng there, hence the paucity of tips.

However, as some of my old rugby playing friends would say having made a horrendously late tackle, "Never a wasted journey" and I did have the privelege of watching an absolute masterclass in Southeast Asian cookery. I love cooking and this really made for a wonderful night (see restauant tip).

So, not much I can tell you about this place except that it probbly deserves much more time than I gave it.

The photograph shows the pier where most tourists head very quickly.
