We stayed here for 7 nights over New Year 2004. Attractive hotel, low rise flatroofed whitewashed buildings cascading down in terraces to the sea. Beautiful gardens, good public areas. Man-made sunbathing terraces with sand lead down to sea where there is floating jetty to swim off. Hotel is on Far Garden reef so excellent for snorkelling and lots of dive boats visit every day so lots going on to watch from your sunlounger. Swimming pools are unheated save one in leisure complex and in Winter this means pools are unusable - positively artic water temperature which is a problem if you have young children since they wouldn't be able to use pools (and can't paddle in sea - jetty leads straight to very deep water). Restaurants very poor for this standard hotel although one by sea does have good fresh fish and no decent bar to relax in. Housekeeping erratic. Bathrooms very poor quality fittings and lack any wow factor and although rooms are good size with lots of wardrobe space some have distinctly grubby fixtures and fittings. Management poor attitude. Staff overwhlemingly friendly and eager to help/please but poorly trained and let down by poor management. Majority of guests here are Russian. Major problem with water when we stayed - some rooms had no water at all, some no hot water. Showers just dribbled out and it took half an hour to run a bath and in first room we had the drains stank. Some rooms have only shower so ask for bath if you definitely want one and there is major construction going on on both sides of hotel so ensure you get room with good view not over any construction sites. Hotel is 15 minute taxi ride into Sharm itself. If you ate elsewhere and tipped guy who cleans your room well you should be OK but better hotels for the price in Sharm
Unique Qualities: Very attractive architecture and lovely views.
