On A San Francisco High

by poetjo - last update: Aug 7, 2008

Welcome to my home San Francisco

Golden Gate Bridge - San Francisco
Welcome everyone to my home.

The photo of The Golden Gate Bridge was just taken on Feb. 20, 2006. I was headed out to Ghirardelli Square that afternoon and decided to get off the bus at the bridge to take this photo. It's nice to play tourist once in a while after living here all my life. I hope you enjoy the photos that I will be adding from time to time.

San Francisco has so much beauty and cultural diversity to explore that you would need at least a couple of weeks to see and experience everything it has to offer.

Enjoy...
Pagoda - Japanese Tea Garden

Experience Japan in the heart of the City.

The Japanese Tea Garden is brilliantly nestled among the lush foliage Within Golden Gate Park. It is a taste of Japan with it's colorful pagoda, beautiful bonsai and stately buddha all surrounded in a natural garden setting that offers a serene yet elegant experience to tourists and locals alike. There is also a tea house and gift shop on the grounds. All of this centrally located in Golden Gate Park right next to the newly refurbished De Young Museum.

Photo is the main entrance of the Tea Garden taken in February 2006.
The Botanical Garden

The Botanical Gardens

I absolutely love this place. It is full of trees, flowers, plants, streams, birds etc... Foliage as diverse in culture as the people who live within the city limits. The best time to see this natural wonder is in the mornings when it is virtually quiet and you can just listen and be. You can also find locals performing their morning tai chi rituals. It is located within Golden Gate Park not far from the Japanese Tea Garden. This is a must when you're in SF.
Aquatic Park-views Alcatraz, Balclutha, Hyde Pier

Aquatic Park

From Aquatic Park you have a view of the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz Island, Hyde Street Pier and Ghirardelli Square. It's an absolute beautiful spot for walking, building sand castles, strolling the park where the cable turnaround is located or visiting some of the talented street vendors hawking their creations on the street. I doesn't matter what you do there it's just a beautiful spot to spend some time.
Shakespeare Garden Main Entrance

Shakespeare's Garden

This cozy little garden is nestled among the lush oasis that is Golden Gate Park not far from the Botanical and Japanese Tea Gardens. It hosts beautiful trees and a serene setting that is perfect for writing, reading. listening to music or in many cases hosting your wedding ceremony. I've seen many weddings take place here. I love visiting in the mornings when it's nice and quiet.
My bud the Koala

The San Francisco Zoo

I've loved the zoo ever since I was a kid. We'd spend almost every weekend there, have picnic, ride the merry-go-round etc... I still enjoy it and get out there about once a month or so. BTW Every first Wednesday is FREE admission. It's always crowded but still alot of fun. They are currently going through a renovation but without any interruption for visitors. A great time for all you kids and kids at heart out there.
My other bud the Polar

Polar Bear @ The SF Zoo

This adorable bear has been @ the SF Zoo forever. I love this guy. Have been visiting him for years.
Pier 39

It's not just a pier...

Pier 39 is a tourist and local favorite. With many cheap eats as well as upscale restaurants, unique shops, a lively arcade, live music and artist performances and our resident sea lions you can spend a day exploring the fun and unique sights of this popular mecca.
