Pipa was fantastic- it is prime beach territory. The climate is generally arid, so don't expect a jungle. The town seems to exist primarily on tourism, and does have a good tourist infrastructure. Like many towns in Brazil, it comes alive at night. There are quite a few tourists here from all over the world, most seemed to be relatively young, though some were middle-aged. I would hazard a guess that 5-10 years ago it was a backpacker's dream vacation, with not too many people. But now there are a lot of pousadas and it is only a matter of time before a sizeable hotel is constructed. Go to Pipa before that happens.
