In England I feel as if I'm in a mystery novel by Agatha Christie or Enid Blyton. I expect strange and quirky things to happen while strolling across the lovely countryside, discovering quaint villages, and exploring all aspects of London. This tastefully dressed English gentleman with the elegant briefcase is about to board the bus from Central London to Paddington and then catch the 4:50 from Paddington. In addition to all these excitements, England offers rain, excellent tea, mysterious castles, cool rock music, beautiful parks, and very polite people...as long as I'm not trying to hide the fact that I'm a tourist and admit that I don't really understand the British way of life. P.S. People do speak English in England. |

christine.j Sat Feb 10, 2007 12:01 UTC I also love hunting for old mysteries at fleamarkets. Another way for finding them are the charity stores! | haiamisa Tue Aug 22, 2006 20:44 UTC The plot thickens: see my HP, chapter 7, Vanishing members...(picture and text) | themajor Mon Jun 6, 2005 07:40 UTC Great fun Gabrielle - wry wit abounds! I raise a glass of PanGalactic Gargleblaster to your Miss Marplian musings and Blytonian burblings. Your aesthetic teapot and toaster arrangement does you credit madam! | iandsmith Sun Jun 5, 2005 12:52 UTC Mmm, not quite what I expected but I love the thread of wicked humour interwoven in your pages. |
