Mdina
Mdina is the old capital of Malta, although Valletta has been the contemporary capital city ever since.

Mdina is a medieval town with narrow, quiet streets, located in the center of the island. It is also known as the "Silent City" because no cars are allowed with the exception of limited number of residents, emergency vehicles, wedding cars and hearses. However, it can be a bit crowded with tourists at times, which makes is less silent than I thought it would be after reading all those silent announcements.

Nevertheless, Mdina is unique and very historical, rendering beautiful views of the island.

Mdina Main Street

Walking on Mdina Main Street puts you in a mainly meditative mood as long as you do that in the evening when most of the tourists have left the walled city and returned to their hotels to have dinner and watch TV.
