The Ultimate VT Guide to Kiriat Shemona is available here.

Past: A long, long time ago seven bedouins from Beer Sheva ("The Seven Wells") set out on a journey north by northwest. Why they did so has not been reported. Halfway through their trip four of them got tired, settled down and founded the town of Kiriat Arba ("The Town of Four"). [Kiriat Arba is not the same as Kiriat Ata, which is "The Town of You"]. The remaining three determinedly walked on and on and were eventually joined, after a good long time, by five travelers from Kibbutz Maale HaHamisha ("The Kibbutz of Five"). Together our eight friends continued their trip north and when they had reached the Lebanese border they were not allowed to pass as one of them was mistaken for a bicycle thief. So the party of eight turned back, walked 12 kilometers south, and founded the town of Kiriat Shemona ("The Town of Eight").

Present: Kiriat Shemona, or K8, is currently a pleasant small town in the Far North with a population greater than eight, surrounded by very scenic landscape and excellent fresh air.

Future: Who knows for sure, but let's hope for at least eight good things.

Ollie's favorite number is 8.
1 plus 101 Dalmatians

I didn't walk to Kiriat Shemona...

...like the party of eight but decided to travel a more modern and faster way. I took the bus from Tel Aviv via Afula. When I got off the bus at the Kiriat Shemona Central Bus Station I found out that I was the lucky 102. traveler who had arrived in Kiriat Shemona that day. I won the translated, printed version of the the Disney movie "101 Dalmatians". The Hebrew version is called "102 Klavim ve Ganavim", which means "102 Dogs and Thieves" because dogs are "klavim" in Hebrew, thieves don't exist in English speaking countries, the translator thought that a Dalmatian was a person who lived in Dalmatia, and 101 in English is 102 in Hebrew.

Ollie's favorite dogs are Dalmatians and dogs without polka dots.

Kiriat Shemona has something...

...to offer to everybody, for example the delicious and tasty Kiriat Shemona Strawberries. Although green, they are fully matured. True, they look a little bit like olives, but since they are served in bowl with a distinct strawberry character, strawberries is what they must be. They are definitely not lychees.

Ollie's favorite bowl never contains strawberries.
