Zefat is an Extreme City | Gabi, a non-eccentric, in Zefat |
Extremely mystical. It is so mystical that it had been a well kept secret for a very long time, even to most Israelis. However, according to the great mystics of the past, Zefat is to play an important role in the final redemption. We shall see. In the meantime Zefat has attracted...well, let's not say crazy, but eccentric people, involved in eternal art or eternally waiting for the final redemption, or both.
For now, at least, its worldy secret of where it is has been revealed, and we can agree that it can be found in a really picturesque location in the Galilee with truly mystical views. |
| The Famous Blue Door in Zefat |
| | According to the legend... ...and/or other sources, the town was founded in 70 C.E. Zefat flourished in the 16th century, with lots of 16th century flowers, and with lots of famous religious scholars and mystics that moved to Zefat at that time. As a result, it became the spiritual center of the Jewish world, where the Kabbalah (Jewish mysticism, not the receipt for any of your purchases in a supermarket or wherever - anyway, not that receipt that also happens to be called "kabbalah" in Hebrew) reached the peak of its influence. |
Zefat is one of the... ...four holy cities, together with Jerusalem, Hebron, and Tiberias. The old part of the town consists of narrow cobblestone alleys full of artist galleries and medieval synagogues. Zefat is the balance where the spiritual world meets the physical world, where the crazy eccentrics meet the boringly normal, where the East meets the West, where Zefat meets Safed. | | |
