Don't Forget Paris!

by Trillian2005 - last update: May 19, 2007

Gabrielle's Fabulous World

Sacre Coeur
In contrast to the movie "Forget Paris", I'd suggest that you don't forget Paris. Paris is a must-see city. Unlike Paris, Texas, which is not the capital of the USA, Paris is the capital city of France. Paris, France is located on the River Seine in the Ile-de-France region. The city is ancient and was known as Lutetia in Roman times, also in the revolutionary era of Asterix and Obelix. The city's present day name Paris is derived from the Gallic Parisii tribe. And here ends our brief history lesson.

The picture show Sacre Coeur with 578 tourists from Germany and one from Finland. If you want to see Paris at night when most of the 578 tourists from Germany are asleep and the one from Finland is still in a bar, click here.

To check if YOU belong in Paris, take this test:
What European city do you belong in?

And now guess what my test result was?

YOU BELONG IN PARIS!
You enjoy all that life has to offer, and you can appreciate the fine tastes and sites of Paris.
You're the perfect person to wander the streets of Paris aimlessly, enjoying architecture and a crepe.
Scene 473 of "Un Très Pétit Voyage à Paris"

In this picture we are...

...in Montmartre. Let me introduce ourselves: we are Jean-Philippe, Jim, Candice, Gabrielle, Kerrie, and Chris (all from California, except Jean-Philippe who's a native of Paris, and me, well, I'm not a native of Paris but more so from California, although only sort of because originally I'm from Rastatt, Germany, a town almost directly east of Paris).

And here we are posing for scene 473 of the movie "Un Très Pétit Voyage à Paris" which was a famous box-office hit. The box-office got hit by the audience after they saw the movie. Scene 473 takes place after scene 472 and is the scene right before Gertrude, Emile, Zachary, Peggy-Mae, Laralee, and Henry have dinner at the Infamous Jazz Club.
The sequel to "Un Très Pétit Voyage à Paris" was made two months later to top the flop of the previous one and is called "Un Très Pétit Voyage de Paris". Movie critics are still discussing if it was for better or for worse. The current tendency seems to be slightly more slanted towards no.

Gabi and La Seine

As you may have figured out by now, Paris is the ideal movie location, better than Los Angeles beause it rains more often in Paris and that makes for more romantic movie scenes, such as along la Seine. Of course, some movie scenes along La Seine need to be sunny as well. Too much rain is not good for the soul.

In Paris, I always remember

- "Forget Paris" with Billy Crystal and Debra Winger, especially the scene when Billy tells Debra that he's going to be the only person at his father's funeral, to which Debra says: "How sad", and Billy replies: "Good. It's a funeral."

- "Paris, Texas", which is misleading because it doesn't take place in Paris, France, with a très pétit voyage à Texas, but entirely in Paris, Texas.

And of course
- "Amélie’s Fabulous World", one of my favorite movies of all times.
