The reaons why everyone comes here is because of it's amazing location. Several mountains surround the city, including the big 3 (Eiger, Monch, and Jungfrau) and there are well marked, well maintained hiking paths everywhere. The surrounding area is very beautiful, with views of mountains, glaciers, cows and small huts everywhere.

The bad thing about beautiful places is that they often attract people. The entire town is a tourist trap, with gift shops selling the same five objects with swiss crosses on them everywhere. Almost everyone here is from a different country, and you'll here more English than anything else. But, aside from a few places, once you leave the town, it is easy to find yourself on a mountain trail with no one around but cows and their ringing bells.
