  • This is a great museum that has a large collection of Spanish art. There are Picassos, Dalis, Miro’s, and much, much more. The most famous painting here is Guernica, by Picasso. It is an amazing representation of the Spanish civil war and seeing it in person (it’s huge) is a must. The building has 4 floors, with the first floor carrying temporary exhibits. Entrance is 6 euro (3, with a student ID) and the building is open until 9 pm (another reason why it’s a great museum).

  • It looks amazing from the outside, but because it’s a royal palace, it was closed the day we visited. Even if it’s closed you could get a view of the courtyard through the fences. In a way, it looks much nicer when there’s no one on the grounds.

  • The gardens attached to the Palacio Real. It’s free to walk on the grounds and is a nice place to relax and get nice views of the Palace. It has nice fountains, also.

  • This square is at the center of the city. There are some nice buildings surround the square, as well as lots of tourist shops. It’s a good place to start your tour of the city. Watch your belongings since it’s really crowded. There is a metro stop (“Sol”) on the square.

  • This is the large shopping street of Madrid. It has lots of hotels, lots of fancy stores (and lots of not so fancy ones). It gets very crowded, so you should watch your wallet.
