Dinkelsbuhl is truly a fairy tale town. The houses are painted in vivid colors with flower boxes in the window, the cobblestone streets wind behind the houses, and tiny German restaraunts are sprinkled throughout the town. Though offering less attractions than its neighbor (Rothenburg), it is by far more appealing. Dinkelsbuhl is much less crowded, the buildings are brighter, and it is more authentic than its counterpart. Of course, this isn't exactly a hidden jewel. You will run into other tourists, but not enough that it will become bothersome (even in high season). There is not enough to do here for an all day trip. However, it makes a wonderful 2-4 hour stop along the Romantic Road. |
