Restaurant Name: Monaco Cafe
As this Café was right next door to the Parador Hotel, this little restaurant was not difficult to find.
However it is a little gem.
Free cups of apple tea all day long, if you wish, a little lost leader that brings you back to sample the food.
Here you will also get to meet a couple of characters, Happy and Chris. (See my local customs tip) Both from England but now living in Alanya, are great fun and a good source of local information.
Ali bay, (as he is known) the owner, along with his wife run a busy and fun filled little restaurant.
The testament to this place is, while all of the other local restaurants were nearly empty each evening, the Monaco Café was always full.
Favorite Dish: The photograph shows a dish of Cigara Borek, one of our favourite meals, at the Monaco Café this dish is made fresh on ordering.
It can be eaten as a snack or as a main course.
They do the usual Turkish food, cooked to a high standard, with only local fresh ingredients.
However, don’t be fooled by the English breakfast on the menu.
It will consist off: - a couple of fried eggs on toast, beans, fresh grilled tomatoes and a frankfurter type sausage (probably not pork) It is ok and cooked well, but not a true English breakfast.
