Although I was born in Guyana South America, visiting Argentina was an eye opener for me. I was really surprised to see how Europe was transported to Buenos Aires. Meaning I did not feel I was in South America, Buenos Aires could have been a city in Spain or anywhere in Europe. However, visiting outside of the city did give me a glimpse of the pampas and the hard life which settlers had to face when migrating to this distant country from all over the world. We stayed in a hotel near the university and because they were voting for members of parliament there was a lot of demos and the university was surrounded day and night by police. Most of the time the area was cordoned off and we had to make a detour around this area. This was the area around Galleria Palacio the huge shopping centre.
