St. Nicholas Cathedral , the highest point and then The Red Tower or Cats Tower are landmarks in the city of Fribourg.
French and German language intermingle to form a mixture of "Bonjour" or "Gruetzi".
The Swiss media implies that this is where the "Roestigraben" begins and the misunderstandings between the French and German speaking Swiss have their cultural differences. "Roesti" is a potato dish very popular in the German speaking area.

What comes to my mind when I think of this area:

Here we made a stop to buy some souvenirs for my cousin who had come to visit from Canada. She was astonished at the prices for TShirts.
Normally, I dont like stopping at these places on the motorway but prefer make my pitstops in villages along the way. However, if you are in a hurry this is a nice stop and offers a wonderful view of the outlying areas and of course the lake of Gruyere

Pros and Cons

Pros:Many tourists miss this part of Switzerland so it is quite peaceful and some parts untouched
Cons:Its easier to get around by car rather that the public transport
In a nutshell:Wonderful untouched sceneries of everyday life
