Berlin fascinating city

Reichtag Building The cupula -
Why did I decide to visit - well I have been travelling a lot out of Europe and thought it was time to visit the cities which are "nearby".
Actually, I also wanted to experience what it was like to travel on the night train from Switzerland to Berlin.
Well here I am back to work with all the impressions and photos to share with you.
Highlight of my visit was meeting 2 VT'ers for brunch. So bear with me while I build my pages
Brandenburg Gate - a building site like everywhere

Brandenburg Gate

Not far from the Reichstag, a most symbolic Gate. Did you you that this is the only building which appears on 3 German euro coins.

If you look carefully, you can see the new Quadriga (horses) which replaced the old one after being burnt down in May 1945.

Now its the symbol of Unity East/West

TV Tower at Alexanderplatz

Berlin at your feet from the 368 meters high Television Tower.
This Tower was built by GDR's chief architect H. Henselmann during the DDR's reign.
Its the only revolving restaurant at the top of the tower in Berlin.

Do you know that when the sun shines the reflection shows a cross on the tower and quite visible from the West, which was quite an embarassment for the DDR during their reign.

Pros:"A must on your trip to Europe"
Cons:"Berlin is a building site at the moment and sometimes it was difficult to find the UBahn"
In A Nutshell:"Among other things the Bundestag was very impressive"
