glasgow - i just love it!
yes i dont know why, but for me, glasgow was the REAL scotland. i enjoyed the city, i enjoyed the friendliness of the people. i liked the way they were less pretentious then their edinburgh counterparts. i liked the way the people seemed more gritty, more real here...
while glasgow doesn't stand out with many touristic features, it's just a matter of walking around the city and soaking it all in, that for me, made the city so likeable. it doesn't try to draw the tourist in, it doesn't try hard. it's a working city, it doesn't stop to pretty itself up for the traveller.
it does have some gems well worth a visit. georges square is a really pretty area of the city, as is the banks of the clyde.
being only an hour by bus from edinburgh, while most traveller's do tend to hit edinburgh and just stay there, may i suggest taking a peek at glasgow, at least for a day? |

TravellingSpirit Tue Aug 11, 2009 12:35 UTC Next time you're in Glasgow get in touch as I live very close. I'm not from here originally but agree that Glasgow's great. | tpal Sun Feb 1, 2009 22:14 UTC I guess we're taking a different approach. We plan to stay a weed in Glasgow with a side trip to Edinburgh. Thanks for your candid view...Tom | diocletianvs Sun Sep 30, 2007 15:55 UTC Glasgow was already high on my list of "must visit places". Now it is even higher. Tips are great, photos are poor (blame it on the weather) but your intro is fantastic! | roamer61 Mon Jul 2, 2007 12:39 UTC Alot to see and do. I always thought Glasgow was a large business and industrial city with not much to offer for the visitor. |
