having a jenniferchin moment in xunantunich!
for a small quiet mayan experience, complete with hot scorching sun, mosquitos in the grass, and barely any tourists, you cannot pass xunantunich!!

while belize is more noted for its barrier reef, and perhaps not so much it's mayan ruins, there are still some good archaeological sites to explore in this small country, and xunantunich is one of them.

located very close to the san ignacio, the 'adventure' capital of belize, how about taking a break from the tubing, rafting, caving and trekking, and experiencing a piece of belizian mayan ruins? you wont be disappointed!

Barely any tourist, that's great! But the "hot steamy typical jungle sweating climbing type of mayan site" is not my best cup of tea, I am better for "hot dry desert", haha!

You're a woman after MrL's own heart! He can't resist the challenge of a good pyramid either. Looks great - I love the way these places sit slumbering in their jungle surrounds. Nice to see one without hordes. L
