Last good beach in Texas that is changing

by corygkb1 - last update: Jan 2, 2005

Home Sweet Home

Growin up here made it that i was spoiled in my childhood with great beaches that werent packed but during spring break and then the summer. I loved this once pristine beautiful place that has more apeal than just a beach.
There are only 2,500 poel on this island and when I lived there it wasnt so commercailized as it is now. It was the land of manana. This was the ideal place to grow up. Safe and beautiful and a place that a kid could learn to surf.
As I grew up I would venture to Mexico and learned the value what my dollar could get me. 10 dollars for a friday night all you can drink for a kid of 16 was the best thing in the world.
Traveling from this place was a little hard thinking that the closest airport was 30 miles away and still just a small one at that.
Going to Mexico and catching a train to Monterrey of Mexico City rocked though. The train was cheap and very nice nad the sleeper cars were cheap too. Just dont get on the regular freight train or you will be with chickens and goats and alot of animals for about the same price as a nice train.

Now this place is changing though. It is very commercailized and major resorts line the beaches and people are becoming more not from there and not as freindly. Don;t get me wrong I love this place it is my home but MONEY has gone to this places head.

I would reccomend going to this place during the winter. It is still pristine and you could have the beaches to yourself nad doesnt get really cold either.

That is it. If you want more detailed info about local places to go I will tell you but I dont wont to ruin the few that this place has left so first come first serve. Hahahaha laugh people it is funny

Pros:"Peacefull during the winter"
Cons:"Hate crowds of "Spring Breakers" and "Mexican Nationals" they all [pollute the beaches and dont care what harm they do"
In A Nutshell:"Great place but it is changing fast"
