...but it's getting more and more African

Namibia used to be a gorgeous country.
Being a German colony as of 1884 it was occupied by South Africa after WW I. In 1990 it declared its independence.

When I visited Namibia in 1997, I was surprised by the German influence being alive and visible all over the country: German street names, German advertisements, German signboards and the only German daily newspaper in whole Africa.
When we told people that we came from Germany many immediately switched from English into German. It was amazing...

Unfortunately, Namibia is suffering from a strong movement towards "independence" from western (white) influence. Expropriatation of foreigners is an acclaimed goal of the current government and antipathy is propagated throughout the country.

A real pity for this beautiful country!
