Cebu's Mactan Island from above - Province of Cebu

The Departure

Philippine Airlines was probably not the best airline I was flying with but provided an efficient service.
Departing at Seoul/Incheon it took an approx. 4 hours to reach the small airport of Cebu on Mactan Island.

Temperature in Seoul : - 2 C
Temperature on Cebu : + 28 C

The Arrival

Arrival time was 1:30am. The immigration took almost an hour but transportation to the hotel luckily only took about 15 minutes. The ride was still quite interesting as, considering the time of day, there were a lot of people on the streets... men, women and children alike.
At around 3.00 am, the destination was (finally) reached: Welcome to the Maribago Bluewater Beach Resort!
Even though late at night, the first impression was very positive and it turned out to be even better after getting up a couple of hours later, opening the entrance door and looking onto blue sky, sunshine, palm trees and... a shark pool right in front of our Garden Wing Cottage.

The Resort

After hearing lots of different opinions before the trip, the expectations were slightly mixed-up. However, as the first impression already indicated, it turned out to be very positive. In brief:
- simple but functional rooms
- extremely clean and nice pools
- tasty food and even tastier juices
- sandy beach with clear water but slightly stony bottom
- very friendly and helpful staff
--> great value for money!

Pros and Cons

Pros:Great area for water freaks and sunshine lovers
Cons:Life outside the resort is quite different --> only for adventurous people
