It's always nice to travel with someone whom you can have laughs and fun with! In this case, I have my husband and partner in crime :) Wherever we go, whatever we are doing, you can be assured you will be entertained. Funny thing is... this 'mad' side of him only comes out for me... sorry! haha

Before we arrived in Amsterdam, we were well aware of the drug reputation here. The legality of this addiction we think is very sad.. albeit many people thinking it wonderfully democratic. I was approached once by this chap whose eyes looked dazed.. he was carrying a box of goodies and was keen for me to buy. I said I wasn't interested, he then just asked me for money. As a woman in a strange city (hubby was doing his own thing for a bit), I felt very uncomfortable and ill at ease. I also felt dreadfully sorry for this man, who was an addict and needed help. There is so much going for Amsterdam in the way of culture, history and beauty, and this, sadly, ruins it.

Warnings Or Dangers: Small! Small! Small!

Everything in Amsterdam is small. The houses are small. The streets are small. The restaurants are small. The bathrooms are really small. This lack of personal space is not only due to the huge number of people crammed into the city, but can also be directly attributed to a medieval tax law of long long ago. Back in the olden days, Amsterdam residents were taxed according to the width of their houses... (As people in England were taxed a 'window tax' for allowng light into their homes, hence many old places having few windows...) I will never compain about the smallness of London homes again :)
