Getting TO/AROUND: I couldn't resist taking this shot of this little teeny, tiny, weeny car! I think half a person must only fit in it! haha It was parked on a narrow lane, in a small parking space, so it is obviously very practical, I doubt guzzles much juice, and is a novelty too. My first question though would be... 'How does one get in it?' :)

Getting TO/AROUND: My brother found this back carrier really helpful when carrying his daughter around. Often, the roads are not very child-friendly, and a toddler trying to traverse these pathways would hold everyone up they would be going s slowly, plus they could get hurt quite easily. It is also a good thing to have as buggy/prams are difficult to use on many roads in Rome. This is only advisable for young, light children though, as you will have a certain amount of back pain otherwise!

Getting TO/AROUND: This was another of those 'I cannot resisit this picture' shots! haha This removal truck was parked on the side of the road. I am not sure what exactly this removal company do move, but I doubt it could be general furniture? If it was, it would almost certainly have to be moved one at a time. The furniture in our apartment was old fashioned, huge piece... there is no way this removal van could've taken much of the furniture. I would be keen to know what exactly they DO move :)

Getting TO/AROUND: I would think this would be the most fun and convenient mode of transport to use in the city - getting through the traffic easily, no parking hassles etc.... But it is also probably the most dangerous too! Easy to get knocked down... and Rome drivers did seem to be quite erratic! We didn't hire any scooters, so I couldn't recommend any companies, but there do seem to be a few ones around.

Getting TO/AROUND: The trains in Rome run on time generally, but are not that frequent. The Rome subway network is much simpler and smaller than in London. It's basically a cross-shaped intersection of two train lines, one running NW to SE , and the other NE to SW. They intersect at 'Termini' station, which is right in the middle of the city and equivalent to Kings Cross in London. So, not bad to use, but we far preferred walking everywhere, as there is so much to see!

Getting TO/AROUND: We never caught a bus there, but saw them go by, and noticed It's pretty overcrowded, with everybody having to stand. We thought it better just to walk. There are plenty of bus routes, and the city is pretty well covered, but it is a shame that when your bus arrives, it will be so cramped that you will be forced to stand sandwiched among forty (or more!) others. We are pretty used to this on many of London’s buses too, so this is not unique to Rome. This just boils down to too few buses in service per route I think. At least the service is cheap in Rome, in London it aint!

Getting TO/AROUND: Central Rome is served by a tram system. This service has been wound down in recent years and seems to be somewhat neglected. They don't run much in the central area, so as a casual visitor to the city you're probably not going to get much use out of them. We never saw one our entire stay in Rome, which says a lot.
