    • Favorite Thing: The word 'Tsitsikamma' is a Khoisan word, meaning: 'place of much water'.

    Is this referring to the ice clear water for the river here?

    Who can say for certain.. it certainly is a beautiful and meaningful name for this area.

    The Tsitsikamma forest area is part of the well known area of the Garden Route, a well-trodden route between the eastern and western Cape.

    • Favorite Thing: The park is open from 07:00 – 19:00, and there are security guards around whilst the gates are closed.

    You can only check in at 12:00 but can leave your suitcase at reception if you arrive earlier.

    You have to be out of your cabin quite early in the morning (9:00), which suited us down to the ground as we had a long drive back home to Cape Town then!

    Service was efficient, staff friendly, and it was a wonderful end to our honeymoon!

    • Favorite Thing: Sure, it was our honeymoon.. but we took the backgammon along too!!! :)

    It is one of our favourite games, where I mostly win ;) (Lance is the King of scrabble, I am the Queen of backgammon).

    On our last night, after a scrumptious meal, served at the park's restaurant, we settled in with a glass of wine and backgammon.

    Fondest Memory: The wind came up quite sharply and the waves started crashing quite loudly outside.

    It is a sturdy log cabin, so we didnt feel at all in danger or anything, but we did feel like we were in the centre of a storm :) Which we love!

    This was our last night of honeymoon, and was a perfect finale we thought :)

    'The Lord on high is mightier, than the noise of many waters, yeah than the mighty waves of the sea' Psalm 93v4

    If you have visited this area you will undertsand why this plaque was put here... how very apt is it.

    The storms rage, the waves are unrelenting with strong currents, winds are high... and the Lord is mightier than all of nature's elements...

    Kinda puts things into perspective for us! :)
