There is a vineyard, and history museum that are well worth visiting.
Don't miss the Great American Duck Race, last weekend in August at the courthouse park.
Green Tea Festival first Sunday in December at the Luna Mimbres Museum.
There is a weekend flea market that also has food items, about 3 blocks west of the kmart (west side of town).

Rockhound...you can take a rock home that you pick up from the trail (1.2 mile loop, and you're allowed to wander off trail). Spring Canyon is right in that area too. It's sort of an offshoot from Rockhound. They both close at sunset.
Pancho Villa State Park is further south.
City of Rocks is further north, just before Silver City (45min-1hr away), a great place to take your kids-a maze of rocks! They allow camper camping, and amungst-the-rocks, tent/camper camping, there is also a section called the 'burbs, where you can camp a little away from the rest, amungst more large rocks.

Si Senor(Pine)- great service, 2 of us ate PLENTY of food for $16 - husband had a combination plate(chili, tamale, enchilada, beans and rice). I had a new york strip plate (enchiladas, beans, rice, steak). 2 iced teas. With the check we also got 2 sopapillas and honey.
Caliche's(Florida)-frozen custard. Husband had a plain chocolate caliche-it was similar to a Wendy's frosty. I had a banana split (bananas, pineapple, strawberry, fudge, pecans, cherries)- it was very good, but I would've liked more fudge! Next time, I think i'll get a waffle cone with chocolate/crunchy coconut. They have 4 sandwiches, many hotdogs and more frozen custard desserts.
