Prince 57 Hotel: Prince 57 Hotel

  • Well my stay was brief and was one of the best value backpacking hostels which id found in Hanoi. Located in the old town is only a couple minutes walk to the main lake and the huge array of restaurants, shops, and the local art - water puppets.

I stayed there when they were still building the hotel, so i had to often walk around the builders. I was also on the 3rd floor, and seeing as there was no elevator, meant that my legs got lots of exercise - so good for that age old diet haha....

Unique Qualities: I stayed in one of the cheapest rooms, which was around 6 US$ and i got a choice of 3 single beds (lucky me) and cable television. A rotating fan helped ensure the room stayed at a comfortable temperature. I even had hot water, which for a room of that price is unusual.

  • The stay here was very pleasant. I stayed with my family and had a room with three beds, with both my brothers on the other two. My parents stayed in a separate room.

Through this hotel we organised our trip to Ha Long Bay, and were able to store most of our luggage here as well, which was ideal.

There was airconditioning, an elevator taking you between floors, which is pretty good considering they have 7 floors lol.

There was also a cable television which had a number of channels in english on it. Also a IDD telephone, of which should u use it, will be charged later.

    Unique Qualities: Very friendly staff.

Small restaurant which serves a basic breakfast.

Fine travelogues and tips. Glad you started with the opera house. Ten years ago I rented a bicycle in Hanoi and cycled all around -- and survived the traffic!
