Of all the places i have visited in Malaysia, Kota Bharu is one of the places which is so rich in Malayan culture and arts, is something which people should never miss. For many people this town is a stepping stone for the beautiful beaches of the perhentian islands, but for me, i found myself learning a lot more about the malaysians by simly trying to learn about their cultures, participating in their celebrations of their king and embracing everything around me. |
| | Although it is set in one of the more conservative muslim states in Malaysia this should not put people off it. The town itself id full of many people who want to take you into their hearts should you let them... and respect them. By speaking a little amount of malay, they will also try and encourage you to eat with them, and spend time with them.... |
The kelantanese are very proud of their heritage and shows are often put on for their royal family, and if you visit the cultural centre, you can get a good glimpse it.... | | |

| Pros: | "Fascinating culture, lovely people" | | Cons: | "almost a dry state, conservative" | | In A Nutshell: | "More than just a stop before the perhentians" |
