Writing about the city where we live in a travel site is hard to do. The vision that we have is always different of the vision that a tourist will have. The things that we evaluate are always evaluated in a different way a foreigner will do. So... let's try it.
Why "the city of bright light"?
Lisbon has a special light - me and some friends share this opinion. When you will walk through the streets of lisbon you probably will notice that most of the old buildings in Lisbon are made of white calcareous rock, and Lisbon have so many sunny days over the year that the combination of this two things made Lisbon a special place: this light is special - it brings us happiness, I think.
Lisbon is known also as “The city of the seven hills” because, yes, it’s being built over several hills since the beginning of its existence. This characteristic makes Lisbon, in my opinion, a special place because you have plenty of places from where you can view the city from above, over the roofs of the houses and over the streets. For not prevented tourists, this topography makes Lisbon a place hard to walk, mainly the centre of the city. But, even you came to Lisbon and you are not prepared to walk up and down the hills, just try to go downtown and climb once from there until you reach the St. Jorge castle: you’ll be rewarded by a fantastic view of downtown Lisbon and you will never forget it.
