MY TRAVEL ADVENTURES

by danlisha - last update: Jul 27, 2007

Cat Statues located outside my hotel

Kuching, Sarawak Malaysia

With a name that virtually translates 'Cat', Kuching was my virgin flight trip. Travelling together with my high school band, it was an unforgettable musical exchange with a local school. For those who are culturally-inclined, Sarawak is the place to venture, learning about the various majority and minorities cultures.
Mountainous View from my hotel room

Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam

Being a country well endowed with excellent historical and geographical features, Ho Chi Minh was a great place for my high school educational trip. Every turn at every corner of the country provided a canvas of stories beyond the traditional schoolbooks. Despite the long arduous travelling journey, the arrival destination was like a cherry on top a desert. Definitely a must-see country for the backpackers.
River View from my hotel room

GoldCoast, Australia

A finishing touch before my high school final exams with the second high school band overseas exchange in GoldCoast, Australia. An exchange with the local students during winter was a great change from the usual warm and humid weather back home. While my friends are cramping their brains out with the mock exams back home, I was eating my hearts out at the theme parks and shopping.
Darling Harbor View from my hotel room

Sydney, Australia

A chilling escape to Sydney from my boring and routine internship as a local tour consultant with my buddy intern. An extra bonus to experience the great places which are usually recommended to customers personally but with a VIP treatment. Boy, does it pay to be royally treated at no added expense. Hence, the reason for envyness from my fellow clasmates. Imagine this: all-paid expenses for all the upgraded tours, which are of course virtually expensive.
City View from my hotel room

Bangkok, Thailand

Call me lucky because all of my trips are partially-sponsored by others. Lastly, as a bonus for great work as a local tour consultant, I was presented with a Bangkok Trip for FREE with my intern buddy. The weather was suitable for great food, shopping and hospitality from the local. It definitely lives up to its name as 'Country of Smiles'.

My second trip there was with my mum just before I start the new semester in school. It was a great and affordable opportunity to update my wardrobe for school.

The third trip to Bangkok was stopover for a two weeks backpacking trip with my girlfriend. It was our major stop to catchup on our shopping after we left Chiang Mai and later heading down to the beaches of Phuket.
Misty View from the CableCar

Genting Highland, Malaysia

A well-deserved trip to the chilling highlands of Malaysia immediately after my final exams. Its a definitely 'must-go' for families wishing for a short holiday break from the hustle-and-bustle citylife. Though the journey from Singapore is a wrenching 6hr drive, one will be greeted with a spectacular view of the natural and cooling highlands when riding the cablecar.
Misty Village Afternoon

Padang, Indonesia

All-ladies escape to our traditional roots of Indonesia was an eye-opener to the slow-pace life. Time seem to crawl in this misty town. Recommended only to those who just wish to transport themselves away from reality or do some soul-searching.
Cloudy Northern Thailand

Chiang Mai & Phuket, Thailand

Chiang Mai was blissful start to a backpacking journey down to Southern Thailand with my best colleague. Phuket was definitely a great end to our journey. Never have I enjoyed being away from home for a long time. The interesting places we went, the countless scores of friendly people we befriended, the mountains of stuffs we bought and lastly the tons of calories we packed to fill our stomach with the great food we ate.
