"Punta Banco....and Beyond....." Provincia de Puntarenas by Foundryman1

The provence of Puntarenas covers alot of diverse areas .These pictures are of the sounthernmost tip of Costa Rica .A little town that is not on most maps and VT doesn't have a listing for it-in fact they don't have a listing for the next biggest town either-That's why I posted these pictures in a provence of Puntarenas page.I'd be glad to answer any questions I could about Punta Banco-Send me a email
This is nothing like the town of Puntarenas which is much farther north on the Pacific coast-if you have found these pictures researching the Puntarenas cruiseship Port-sorry.
This is really the end of the road on the southern coast-the pavement ended 50 miles earlier.You could walk to Panama in a few days along the beach and through some jungle .Best to take the border crossing inland

Tide pools

The house we rented sat on a bluff about a third of a mile past the end of the road.There was a big ocean swell the week we were there making the trip to or from the house at high tide impossible.This is the definition of living off the grid

• Pros:The southern pacific coast of Costa Rica is beautiful and lush
• Cons:to get to this area is a several day trip from the capital-No hotels either
