Name of Shop: VCD/CD/DVD
If you are buying these in a shop (on the street or in a mall - not a stall here), check the cover. It is nearly always obvious if it is a fake, and if not, the price will probably give it away. Ask someone who works in the shop to play the CD/VCD/DVD on the CD player or tv screen (nearly all shops will have these). Don't feel stupid or embarassed about doing this, it is quite common for people to ask it to be played- you want to check the quality before you purchase something. Make sure the DVD is for the correct region that is suitable for your DVD player at home. Some copied CDs will have bonus tracks, and copied items sometimes have different covers to the original genuine ones. If you cannot find what you are looking for, just ask - they will be happy to help you.
What To Buy: You can buy copied items in the night markets, but they are likely to be of a poor quality. Shops generally sell better quality versions, but places like Singapore or KL are better for these things.
What To Pay: About 10/15 ringgit for VCD
