El Gouna is high quality tourist village 25 km north of Hurghada. It is a leasure destination with style and quality. But as usual this high quality and change for hassle-free vacation is quite expensive (compared to overall local price level).

Visually the most distinctive features in El Gouna are the artificial canals and lagoons, which ensures that almost every hotel in this compact village have a beach of their own.

Our hotel during our stay in El Gouna at year 2005 was Mövenpick Resort El Gouna.

In my opinion this hotel had absolutely best beach in the whole city. The hotel area is quite large (maybe something like 0,2km x 1km) with 4 different pool areas, several restaurants, excellent breakfast buffet etc.

Naturally services like health club, tennis, squash, sauna, jacuzzi, spa and dive club ("Dive Tribe") are available on premisses and golf course is only 1 km away from hotel.

There is shuttle bus going to downtown several times per day, shuttle boat going to downtown once a hour and if you prefer to walk it's only about 1 km to downtown.

Basically I loved the hotel only complainment to make might be the price, but as they say: "There is no such thing as good and cheap".

If you go to El Gouna the thing you should not miss is the exursion to Luxor. Take 2 days if you can but if you cannot afford 2 days, take a day trip.

We used local Pro Tours travel agency and we were very pleased to their services.

The price of 95USD included transportation, guide services, lunch with beverage, Karnak temple, Habu temple, Valley of the Kings (with entrance to three tombs) and visit to papurys shop and pottery shop.

Pro Tours arranges trips to Luxor every wednesday and friday, but we were told that if you have group of minimum of three people you can arrange with the same price trip to Luxor on any day.
