City Centre Attractions

Adelaide City View Looking Over the Torrens River
Population: 1 Million
Capital City of South Australia
Friendly community with lots to see and do!

Adelaide is known as Australia's 'Twenty Minute City' as it is reasonably quick and easy to get from A to B on our roads and we have a user friendly public transport system.

The north side of the city is surrounded by the Adelaide Zoo, Botanical Gardens, University, Museum & Festival Theatre. All are located on North Terrace and only a 10 minute walk from the city. For a relaxing sightsee catch the 'Popeye' boat along the Torrens River from the Festival Theater to the Zoo which departs daily.

For those that love to shop, Rundle Mall in the city has any kind of shop you could possibly be looking for, for clothes, shoes, soveniours, electrical etc and there is a Downtown Duty Free on the King William Street end of the Mall.

The Adelaide Hills are located 30 minutes east of the city and you will find beautiful country towns, Gorge and Cleland Wildlife Parks.

If you enjoy your wine, The Barossa Valley and McLaren vale regions have a variety of different wineries. A number of tour operators run daily wine tasting tours departing from the city. Both areas are approximatley an hours drive from the city and are worth a visit!
Rundle Street

City Wining & Dining

Rundle Street in the city has plenty of places to eat, ranging from; Alfresco style cafes, pubs, takeaway and pizza bars.

If you are looking for a bite to eat from a yiros to an exotic Italian meal, or just a quiet drink, Rundle Street is the place to be!

Cafes and pubs are open 7 days, and most cafes stay open until midnight, except Sundays until 8.

Beachside Glenelg

The beachside suburb of Glenelg is located west of the city and only a 30 minute tram ride from the city centre. The tram departs daily and takes you straight down Jetty Road shopping strip to the beach.

Jetty Road Shopping Strip has plenty of places to eat, shops and the beach is only a two minute walk - but be warned, it is very crowded in summer!

A Little About Me & My Travels

I gew up in Launceston in the beautiful State of Tasmania and moved to Adelaide 12 years ago.

Having grown up in Tasmania i was fortunate enough to travel around the entire island and see the many beautiful sites & towns.

I have also travelled to Melbourne, Sydney & Canberra numerous times. I am keen to visit our outback in the future.

As for travelling overseas, i did a three week European Contiki tour in January 2002 which started in London and onto the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy & France - Contiki tours are a good starting point for young first time travellers :)

In November 2002 i travelled to Tokyo on a two week PR trip with my previous employment, we stayed in Shinjinku.

I will be leaving Oz again in August this year for two weeks backpacking in Germany, then onto Northern Ireland on a working holiday!!

Currently Living in Northern Ireland

I am currently living in Ballymena, Co Antrim in Northern Ireland.

I will be returning home later this year!
