Almost Perfect I love LAGOS! Any travel guide will tell you to beware when entering Lagos because when tasted it is a very difficult place to leave. I had never heard of it and was just passing through on the way to Holland, I ran out of petrol and had to get work, three months later I left after haveing the most fantastic summer of my life. Lagos is an amazing place, some say it is built on lay lines or something and that it is linked by underground rivers to Scotland, Nova Scotia(hence the name) and Los Angeles (and the San Andreas fault). All I know is that it is special and worth at least a visit. |
TAKE IT EASY Lagos has the best beaches around (follow the locals to some great hidden ones). The restauraunts serve fantastically presented meals of fresh fish at great prices, but you have to go to Mullens restaurant. This place is a gem! Its run by Edward Mullens a great host and general all round good egg. (if your reading this Ed thanks for the help and all the best to your entire family for the help! truely a great family.) This place is so good that it is packed every night of the week throughout the summer (and its not small) the decor is rustic, the music is cool( from the happy mondays and the Clash to Ella Fitzgerald and Classic Jazz.. You have to try the Duck and if you have a spice fetish then its the Beef Mozambique for you, my mouth is watering just thinking about it! |
Good Day Cobber Lagos is the hotbed of surf culture in Europe, its on the Atlantic coast so when the Aussies can't surf the Pacific in winter they come here(our summer). There is a great cross section of nationalities from Canadian, Saffo's, a few Yanks, Aussies, Kiwis, Norwegies(?!), Sweedies(ok I'll stop now). Basically its not overrun by Brits like most other European resorts and it was great to feel like a minority- also it meant that there was a better menu selection than Sausage and Chips ! This place is Surf Party heaven, and if you don't surf, don't worry you can still jion in the party. |
