Fort Worth-Our Home

by sswagner - last update: Jan 29, 2006

Although it is not a mainstream travel destination like many other places, Fort Worth does have its unique attractions. Some say it competes with Dallas, however they are both two completely different cities. This city forms the western part of the Metroplex. Compared to Dallas, it is often seen as "laid back" or even a bit rustic. Yet, this city boasts many museums, parks, and other public places that easily equal other cities of this size.

Fort Worth does have its growing pains as more people move here. The cost of living is fairly low compared to many places and this region is growing very fast. Unfortunately, this brings traffic to many of the highways. Dallas and Houston are often criticized for heavy traffic, however Fort Worth has areas which now rival the traffic jams in those places (hint: avoid Northeast Loop 820 if you can).

Fort Worth is now our home and we were married in the Botanic Gardens, which is a popular place for weddings. We may not have the glitz of Dallas or the entertainment facilities of Arlington, yet there are places within Fort Worth that certainly deserve a visit.

Pros:"Still fairly laid back, several places to explore"
Cons:"In danger of being overdeveloped like so many places"
In A Nutshell:"By all means visit the city. Most people enjoy something about it."

Excellent home town page! I still remember a great steak dinner I enjoyed at the Stockyards many years ago.
